Vickers Electronics has led the market in reducing business energy usage for heating by installing their unique Energy Management System. The Vickers system is proven at many thousands of sites and with energy prices continuing to rise and the need for companies to reduce their Carbon footprint demand for the Vickers system continues to increase.
We are looking for an individual to join the Installations / Operations team to assist with the planning of engineers’ work, contacting customers, preparing supplier documentation, site drawings and dealing with Help-Desk queries.
Our ideal is that the successful candidate will learn all aspects of the operational side of the business and progress to take on further responsibilities.
The position is based at our office in Trafford Park, though visits to clients are sometimes required so a clean driving licence would be preferred.
You must be a good communicator, happy to pick up the phone to liaise with customers, suppliers and our field engineers, and proven computer skills are essential, as well as being a team player.
Salary £15,000 to £19,000 depending on experience.

An IT firm is to create 150 new jobs in Caerphilly in Wales
Attenda Limited said £1.98m in Welsh government support secured the IT jobs against competition from the Czech Republic.
The company, based in Staines, near London, provides IT support and infrastructure to UK and international business.
Business Minister Edwina Hart will open the offices later on Wednesday.
She said: "This is a good example of a company that had a number of alternative locations to consider for their expansion but chose Wales because of the availability of a workforce with the relevant skills and a business environment where they can flourish.See more

McDonalds Jobs
As I sat at the local McDonalds drinking coffee and surfing the net, I came to consider some of the people that have McDonalds Jobs. There really was quite a diversified crew there serving the customers as they came in for the world famous Egg McMuffin and the coffee that I believe is top notch.
On one hand, you had a middle aged man working the cash register and wearing a tag that indicated that he was a person of authority. From my view, it looks like the tag says Shift Manager… an interesting McDonald’s job for a middle aged man. There was a bouncy younger girl working the other side of the counter taking orders and appeared to not have a care in the world… she must have a nice life outside of this McDonalds job.
Walking the floor and cleaning tables, picking up trash was a mentally handicapped person. Clearly McDonalds Job opportunities are extended to those who would have issues working in a factory or a department store. It’s nice to see McDonalds Jobs are available for those that are less fortunate than most.
Peeking around the corner I could see two young men… late teens or early twenties working the grill and microwave. Their job at McDonalds could be a stepping stone to a future in the restaurant industry that could pay handsomely over the years. Often McDonalds Jobs are the beginning of a career due to the training program that they offer.
Granted, a job at McDonalds is not going to make you a millionaire but it will generate enough income to pay for your regular bills and that is saying something in this economy.

Listening to the cloud

First of all, sorry about my week-long hiatus. I've been so busy at work, working odd hours, and doing stuff around the house and I've just simply been too tired to do anything. In my short spurts of down time, I decided to dip my toe into cloud computing. I've had a Dropbox account for a while now to keep some files available to my computer and my phone, but I wanted something that could do just a bit more. The most obvious place to start was my music collection. Compared to some people I know, mine is paltry, just shy of 1000 songs and about 3GB in size. I do keep some music on my android phone, but by no means do I have all of it on there. I've tried 3 different services, mSpot, Amazon mp3/Amazon Cloud Player, and Google Music.
First of all, Google Music is in beta and currently only available in the US by invitation. You can request an invitation on the site and I got mine within 2 days. As of right now there is NO storage limit, so those of you with thousands of songs can rejoice. Unfortunately, the PC app and android app could definitely use some polishing and is lacking some functions the other two offer (such as a lock screen widget on the phone). I'm sure this is because it's in beta right now though. No word yet though on when this will become available to everyone and how much it will cost (if it will cost anything at all)
Secondly, mSpot is fairly simple and easy to use. Signing up for free gives you 5GB of space. One complaint is that compared to Google's and Amazon's services, the PC application was VERY slow to upload. The sound quality also seems to be degraded on my phone and noticeably sounds worse than the original file.
Right now, I prefer Amazon. They also offer 5GB for free which is plenty for my smallish music collection. The android app is very functional and offers decent control. The sound quality is also much better than mSpot.
I must say, it's pretty cool to have my entire music collection anywhere I go without it taking up space on my phone's memory card, and for those of us who are still lucky enough to have grandfathered unlimited data plans, we can listen anywhere to our heart's content even if wifi isn't available
